Equitant, better known for his musical contribution to the occult thrash metal band, Absu, has existed as a solo effort for many years now (having taken form along the births of Mortiis, Equimanthorn, and others within the black-ambient genre). Equitant explores the darker aspects of sorcery, medieval times, love, war, and conflict. The epic of Equitant primarily involves his own mythological work regarding the land of Agurak...
Equitant speaks: "Agurak is a mythical land based in the lands of Ireland. The Kingdom of Agurak is a darkened place, always covered by clouds and fog. The sun does not shine in this land. The epic of Agurak is a story of war, death, sorrow, pain, love, sorcery, defeat, and glorious victories. A story of knights and the family called Myrkenstone, and the Ifernains. The story, The Fallen Walls of Agurak, tell of this dark time long ago. Myrkenstone reigns as king of old Agurak, the Kingdom of Valon. After this, a war against Valon begins...a war that lasts around six years until the Kingdom of Agurak is borne. After many years of plight, Agurak vows to reclaim their land and overthrow the king and take back that which is rightfully theirs. The army of Holok Valisi assists in their overthrow. A sorcerer by the name of Aurion casts a spell of destruction upon the lands of Valon, and sends a star from the blackened heavens to hit the island...in the end, the people of Agurak regain their lands...those that they have ruled, protected, and died for."
This grand epic is based upon the fictional conceptions of Equitant coupled with influence by "The Only Good Orc" (an article by Liz Holliday, featured in Dragon Magazine) as well as a chapter in the book "The Darkest Day" (scripted by Dennis L. McKiernan).
