It took two years for us to become the force we are today, just two
years to become one of the most ground breaking groups in the history of
Irish traditional music. Two years to build a fan base that spans the
entire globe, of metal fans and folk enthusiasts alike. In this time we
have played with world famous groups such as The Chieftains, Anuna,
Riverdance, etc. and received amazing reviews in both the folk circles and
the black metal underground. Reviews in small mags. such as Rock Hard
who gave is 9/10. Terrorizer who gave us 3-5/5. Page 4 shows two
reviews in their entirety from bigger, world-wide magazines(Folk Roots
and Rock'n Reel).
We are currently searching for a more professional, experienced
label because our current label- "Nazguls Eyrie prod." cannot provide the
professionalism we need. Our c.d. has sold outstandingly through mail
order, but this is the only place it can be purchased except from a few
shops throughout Europe. Our label also provided no promotion for us
whatsoever; any promotion was done by us. However, despite the poor
distribution and lack of promotion, we have sold thousands of c.d.s
throughout Europe, America, S.America, and even a few hundred in poor
Asian countries.
We constantly receive an average of about 50-60 letters a week
from all around the world, from loyal fans telling us what they think of
our unique. It is clear that we are building quite a reputation in the
black metal scene but our audience does not stop there. many people from
various musical backgrounds are enjoying our music, this is clearly
shown when we play concerts and men and women in their 30-40's show up
to see us play.
I would like to now talk of Cruachan's new material. Firstly, a
promo tape shall be professionally recorded on 24 tracks. The c.d. is
obviously still available and any label who has not heard it yet should
let me know and I will send a copy.
The main problem with "tuatha na Gael" was that it was our first
ever recording. We weren't prepared and as a result we aren't happy with
the end result. We also had little money from the label which meant a
rush job from the start. Our new material is, quite simply, much better. We
have improved greatly as musicians and the new songs are structured
better than anything we've done before. The music itself is still
"black metal" based with the various traditional pieces laid over the
metal structure, but having said this the music is a lot more folky and
atmospheric. The vocals too have been improved, the dark screams are still used but there is also
more melodic vocals and pagan chanting.
We are a Celtic pagan band and this is the image we use. We wear
Celtic battledress at concerts and our lyrics are about Irish/Celtic
mythology and history. We are nationalists who love our country and its
history. We never try preach to anyone or pretend to be something we
are not. We are pagan - We are Cruachan.
Update
Our European tour is still being arranged and as yet there are still no dates. Our Greek fans will
be happy to hear that "Metal Invader" is bringing us to Greece in 3 months for a few shows. Hopefully
these concerts will take place in either June or July. We are currently trying to get a look in at the
folk festivals in Ireland scheduled to begin in the spring.
We have been offered a deal from Darkside records and at the moment we are still considering
whether to sign, but know that they have offered a substantial cash amount for recording our next
album so we won't have the production problems that we had on the first.
At last we have completed our T-Shirts; they feature high-quality front and back prints done by
John(who also done our cover). They cost $17 worldwide and are available from the address
below.
