PURE HELLPACED BLACK/DEATH METAL THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE

Pete Helmkamp

Order From Chaos was formed in late 1987 by Chuck Keller (guitars), Pete Helmkamp (Bass/Vocals), and Mike Miller (drums). The band recorded three demos, the last of which, Crushed Infamy, sold in excess of 1000 copies. This gained the attention of Putrefaction Records resulting in the Will To Power 7" pressed in 1100 copies. Their first full length armageddon Stillbirth Machine was finally released by Wild Rags Records in 1993, and on vinyl by Decapitated Records (now Unisound). Wild Rags has repressed the CD so more copies are now available.
More recent releases include the "Jericho Trumpet" 7," the "Plateau of Invincibility" 10"/CD, the "Live: Into Distant Fears" 7," and the second full length armageddon "Dawn Bringer."
Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, Order From Chaos played few shows in their own city. Their reputation for fire breathing and bone throwing coupled with the ferocity of their stage presence all but banned Order From ChaosChuck Keller from every club in their area. Numerous gigs occured abroad though, including places such as Milwaukee, Omaha, Fort Wayne, Manassas, New Haven, and New York. The New York gig in 1994 (known as Deathstock) was the pure chaos and mayhem that truly represents what Order From Chaos was all about. The show is already legendary among those who witnessed it.
Their music brings to mind the conviction and dedication of the early '80s European tradition of black/death metal bands like Bathory, Sodom, Venom, Celtic Frost, and Slaughter Lord.
According to their masterplan, adopted at the bands' inception, Order From Chaos split up in spring 1995 after the recording of their third full length armageddon; "An Ending in Fire," and the miniCD "And I Saw Eternity." Rather than even run the risk of disappointing their oldest fans with a mediocre release as all their forefathers have now done, Order From Chaos consciously chose to end their career at its peak. "An Ending in Fire" is the climax of their manifestation; a fitting epitaph for a band that has become a cult. The end of an era, the beginning of a legend.

Mike Miller

Order From Chaos was formed in 1987 by Chuck Keller (guitars), Pete Helmkamp (bass/vocals), Mike Miller (drums). They did three demos; Demo I (Jan 1988), Inhumanities (July 1988), and Crushed Infamy (July 1989). This final demo led to a 7" deal on Putrefaction Records called Will To Power. It was followed in 1992 with the Stillbirth Machine lp on Wild Rags Records. The band then recorded a 10" maxi single in 1993 called "Plateau of Invicibility" on Shivadarshana Records from Holland. That was followed by the "Jericho Trumpet" 7" and the second full length armageddon "Dawn Bringer" also for Shivadarshana. In 1994 the band recorded a live ep which took the form of "Live: Into Distant Fears" for Eternal Darkness Creations. Most recently the band has released a miniCD called "And I Saw Eternity" as a joint release between Ground Zero Entertainment and Shivadarshana Records. Their final album was recorded in 1995 and is entitled "An Ending in Fire" but a release date has not been established as yet. The autumn of 1996 will see the limited edition CD re-release of the "Crushed Infamy" demo by Shivadarshana.
The band played few shows in throughout their eight year existence mainly because of their reputation for fire-breathing and bone throwing onstage. Shows they did manage to play occured is such places as Omaha, Milwaukee, Wichita, Springfield, Fort Wayne, and the already legendary Deathstock 1994 show in New York.
According to the plan the band set forth at the beginning, the third armageddon is to be their last as the band has now been split up since 22 April 1995. Their final rehearsal for their closest friends and fans was truly an ending in fire...the end of an era, the beginning of a legend.
